What are We to Do? Part 2

I hope that in my post on other religions I did not offend anyone; I do not mean to say “Christians are the only ones that are right and everyone else is wrong.” Actually, in some way or another everyone is right. Though not all religions are completely true, they are not all false; everyone on earth (whether they admit it or not) desires a connection to God how they go about it differs. If we all are connecting to one God, naturally those whom He has not revealed Himself would have a different picture of Him. But just because it is a different picture of the same thing doesn’t mean it is correct. Let’s say I zoom in on an object and take three different photos of it, naturally I would get different guess as to what the object is, considering the viewer’s point of view they are partially correct, but they are wrong in saying what the object is. Christianity is a zoom out of the object; you get the whole picture of the world that is what I meant in my earlier post. Christianity presents the world in the best picture possible – as it is, good but broken.

Two analogies I use often are:

1) Routes to the summit of a mountain. Most start out smooth, broad and promising, heading in the general direction of the summit. All then veer off into jungles, across rivers, requiring the seeker to do the work and find the best route. they offer no guarantee of reaching the top. Many either dead-end or double back, away from the mountain altogether.

The other route is not a path but a gondola. The seeker does no work at all. He just gets in, trusting the gondola-maker's word that it is the ONLY way to the summit.

2) Contaminated food. Religions that do not acknowledge Christ as Lord -- the only Son of God, the sole atonement for our sins with his blood -- (trying, for example, to pass him off as just a prophet or a wise teacher) are by definition antichrist.

As you suggest, T, they contain much truth and draw many honest seekers. But they also contain falsehood and there's the rub. Put one drop of deadly poison in a large vat of soup and you may not feel the effects right away, but it will kill you eventually.

Keep up the good work... and GO SOX! :)

Thank you for your comment, that is true what you said and I didn't stress it enough. Just because there is some truth in all religions doesn't mean they are all the truth, only Christianity is competley true.
